The Little Czech Bakery

If you ever happen to be driving on I-35 in Texas between Dallas and Waco you have to stop in a little town called West, trust me.
They make almost every type of bake good you can imaginebut the thing they are famous for is a Czech item called a kolache. You can get a savory one with meat and cheese.

You may choose a sweet one with fruit and cream cheese.

You can get a sugar cookie in the shape of Texas, of course you can

You can also get pickled pigs feet and pickled eggs. I bet you cannot get those at your average bakery

Their slogan is, "Delicious is our business", isn't that cute.

I get the same kind of kolche every time. Link sausage and American cheese, is my favorite. It reminds me of my childhood. I am not a fan of the sweet kolaches, the fruit masks the smell and texture of the bread and the bread is my favorite part.

  1. We stop in West EVERY time we head to the gulf. If I have to go to Austin for business, the parting words of my children are not "Oh Mom, we'll miss you so much while you're gone!". No, I get "Don't forget to bring us sausage rolls!", or "Bring more cherry kolaches this time because K ate them all the last time."

    Maybe we should move there.
